A JEALOUS man attacked his friend because he was told he could no longer live at his flat.
Trevor Clark, 46, of Harley Shute Road, St Leonards, punched Martin Paterson five times in the face, leaving him with a nose bleed before pushing him onto a bed.
At a court hearing on Monday, Mark Kateley, prosecuting, said Clark then attacked Christious O’Briar, Mr Paterson’s friend, by punching him in the head.
Police arrived at the Sedlescombe Road North flat and arrested Clark.
Mr Kateley said: “The defendant had been in the pub earlier drinking when Mr Paterson rang him asking him to return home with the keys to the flat.
“He told police he became annoyed because Mr Paterson had Mr O’Briar there.”
Clark pleaded guilty to two charges of assault by beating when he appeared before Hastings magistrates on Monday.
The attacks happened on March 13.
Alison Pringle, defending, said: “Mr Paterson is close friends with my client and has been for three years. He used to be his supervisor at Primark and the defendant has been out of work, so Mr Paterson allowed him to stay at his flat.
“There were problems with the landlord of the flat and Mr Paterson asked the defendant to leave.
“The defendant became angry as Mr Paterson and Mr O’Briar went to Eastbourne and the defendant was asked to look after the cat. He was angry because Mr Paterson allowed Mr O’Brair to stay at the flat, when the defendant was asked to leave, so this was borne out of jealousy.”
Magistrates adjourned the case until April 4 so pre-sentence reports could be drawn up.
