A MAN and a woman from Hastings were arrested during dawn raids in a joint operation between police in London and Sussex which recovered £26,000 worth of drugs.
They were part of 17 people arrested on December 7 for a variety of drugs offences.
Officers from Metropolitan Police and Sussex Police carried out the raids as part of Operation Jacklewood executing 24 search warrants at various addresses in Hackney and Hastings. Several ounces of class A drugs were recovered.
A 25-year-old man from Hastings was arrested in Mann Street, Hastings, on suspicion of possession of class A drugs and was later released without charge.
A Hastings woman, aged 51, was also arrested in Linley Drive on suspicion of producing and supplying cannabis and released on bail until January 30.
Detective Inspector Rhys Willis, from the Met, said: “This has been a joint operation with numerous partners to combat criminal gang activity in Hackney.
Intelligence over a four-month period has revealed members of a particular gang are embroiled in a far reaching, structured, drug trafficking operation. We decided to invoke a ‘day of action’ against those involved and have sought assistance from our partners in Sussex Police.”
