A man, a woman and two teenage boys were arrested in Hastings on suspicion of supplying drugs last week.

At around 2.15pm on Monday, June 29, three men were stopped by police who had been alerted to possible drug dealing near bike racks in Station Approach.

One man tried to run off but was detained by officers a few streets away in Earl Street but all three were taken into custody.

The woman was arrested after an address was subsequently searched in St Leonards.

AThe 20-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man, also from St Leonards, were both arrested on suspicion of possessing a class B drug with inent to supply.

A 17-year-old boy from Dagenham was arrested on suspicion of possessing cannabis and being concerned in the supply of class A drug.

A second 17-year-old boy, of no fixed address, was arrested on suspicion of possessing class A drugs with intent to supply.

All four suspects have been bailed until Friday, 28 August, pending further enquiries.

Hastings Neighbourhood Policing Team Inspector Dan Russell said: “This was another proactive piece of work by local officers.

“These arrests will disrupt the supply of drugs in our town, which is a positive result.

“I’d ask that people do, please, keep information coming in about any drugs activity they’re aware of or suspect.

“Every piece of information is valuable in helping us to take a proactive approach towards tackling this menace and those responsible.”
