Czech students attacked and robbed in St Leonards

TWO foreign students were robbed and attacked in St Leonards last Friday (July 13).

The pair, aged 17 and 18 and from the Czech Republic, were walking through Warrior Square at around 9.50pm when they were assaulted.

Police said the students were surrounded by a gang of around eight youths before the younger student was pushed to the ground and had his bag and wallet stolen.

His friend was also hit but nothing was taken from him.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “This was a nasty and frightening attack on two foreign students. Extensive enquiries are being undertaken to try and find those responsible but we are asking for help from the public in identifying them.

“If anyone saw what happened or has information about the incident then we ask them to call police on 101, quoting serial 1849 of July 13. Alternatively, call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
