Attempted robbery at Hastings store

Police are appealing for witnesses to an attempted robbery at a shop in Hastings this week.

A man walked in to Priory Stores in Priory Road at around 9.35pm on Monday (13 March) and pulled down a face mask he had on his head before demanding the staff member handed over cash. He then fled empty handed when the panic alarm was activated.

The suspect was described as wearing a dark coat with a fur trimmed hood, a blue mask, and carrying a black bag.

Detective Constable Cally Fox said: “We believe this could be linked to an attempted street robbery shortly afterwards by the junction between Parker Road and Beaconsfield Road.

“Three people were approached by a man wearing a dark coat with fur trim and blue material covering his face. He demanded money but then left empty-handed in a black VW with dents and scratches down the side.”
