POLICE have released an impression of a man they want to question over the sexual assault of a 36-year-old woman.

The attack took place in the White Rock Gardens area, at the rear of the Clambers play area, when the victim was walking home alone on Saturday, August 6, at 2.30am.

The man approached her and carried out a sexual attack before running off.

He is described as white, middle aged, between 5ft 4ins and 5ft 8ins, and of average build. He had a pale complexion and mousy brown hair which was receding.

He spoke with a foreign, possibly Eastern European, accent, and was wearing a black jacket and dark trousers.

The woman was left traumatised and received medical treatment for cuts and bruises.

Detective Constable Barry Chambers said: “This is an isolated incident, and some witnesses have been helping us to put this E-fit together.

“We hope that it will prompt local people to suggest the offender’s identity.

“We would also like to hear from anyone who was in the area that night and who saw anything suspicious.”

Anyone with information should contact the police on 0845 60 70 999.
