A COUPLE have handed over the keys of their holiday home in Combe Haven to a charity that helps disadvantaged families.
Claire and Frankie Fernando, of Share A Little Love, bought the caravan outright with the purpose of allowing a different charity each year to use it for holidays to help disadvantaged families.
This year they are offering its use to the abcfund, which will be offering holidays from April to November.
Share A Little Love is a business that sells key rings and competition tickets for good causes.
Mr Fernando said: “There are many families in difficult situations that could really benefit from a holiday, families where the mother is in a refuge with her children, families with terminally ill children or disabled children where the parents have had to give up work to care for them, and those dealing with bereavement. “So in October 2008 we purchased the £42,000 luxury holiday home at Combe Haven Holiday Park.
“For 2012 we are happily handing the keys of our holiday home over to Anne Bickmore. Anne works very closely with children from deprived backgrounds, children who have been abused and children with all different kinds of illnesses from all over the country. We have entrusted Anne to make sure that our holidays go where they are most needed.”
The abcfund was founded in 1991.
It provides trips and treats for disadvantaged children and their families. For more information log onto www.sharealittlelove.co.uk and www.abcfund.org.uk.
