A WOMAN’s social group is looking for new members to join and help raise money for charity.
HOT FC, or Hastings Old Town Fan Club, began in May 2007 and has managed to raise several thousand pounds since then which it has donated to charities like the Sara Lee Trust, the Hastings Women’s Refuge, the Young Carers Association, the Parchment Trust and the Dragonfly Trust.
Kaye French, the club’s chairman, said: “One of our staple fundraisers is the good old fashioned table sale which we hold on a regular basis throughout the year, usually in Trade Paints Garden in the High Street, but also at other events.
“On a slightly grander scale we have also held two auctions, several quiz nights and boule matches and arranged for gigs featuring local bands who have given their time for free.
“We take part in the Old Town pram race most years and the Hastings Bonfire marbles competition at Easter on Winkle Island. Both these events help us to raise awareness of our existence and our trademark pink fan has become quite recognised during our four plus years of existence.
“Our club members also get together on a regular basis for meetings and purely social events as we aim to have fun while we raise funds.”
Membership is £5 per year. Contact the club at firstname.lastname@example.org or come along to its next meeting which is at the Cinque Ports, All Saints Street next Friday (September 16) at 7pm.
