CHILDREN from West St Leonards School enjoyed a complimentary day out at Drusillas Park.

The visit took place on Tuesday, September 17, and was organised by the zoo in Alfriston and the charity, Variety.

The pupils were part of a group of 50 children and carers from across the south who visited.

Variety is Drusillas Park’s Charity of the Year for 2013, supporting disabled and disadvantaged children throughout the UK.

Despite the rain, the children encountered a host of furry and feathered creatures along the way.

Glenda Shiner, Variety at Work chairman, said: “Drusillas once again was supporting the community by inviting 50 children and carers from Variety, the Children’s Charity to visit the zoo.

“They had a wonderful day exploring the zoo and riding on Thomas the Tank Engine.”
