A CHARITY is looking for new volunteers to carry on its work as it heads into its 25th year.

Home-Start Hastings and Rother recruits and trains volunteers to support parents with young children at home, and in 2011/12 supported 198 children and their families.

November saw 12 new volunteers complete training and join the existing team of 38.

As part of the training the volunteers have had the opportunity to have their work accredited by the Open College Network.

Rosie Wheldal, family organiser at Home-Start, said: “We are always on the lookout for new volunteers to carry on with the good work of Home-Start Hastings & Rother, which celebrates its 25th anniversary next year.

“If people would like to get involved but not through home visiting we always welcome applications of new trustees to the board.”

On December 2, thanks to the Hastings Lions Home-Start took two coaches of families to Tenterden Railway (pictured above). Asda donated snacks and water for the trip. Asda is once again collecting Toys and gifts to donate to Home-Start families this Christmas.
