A James Bond themed ball has raised nearly £2,000 for a children’s charity.

The event, held at Azur, Marina Pavilion and organised by Odeon Cinema Hastings, collected more than £1,800 for Variety, which supports children and young people throughout the UK who are sick, disabled or disadvantaged.

Guests at the extravaganza, based on Casino Royale, were entertained by singer Samantha Laurilla,

Tammy Howard, general manager of Odeon Cinema Hastings, said: “It’s marvellous that we are able to help in this way and it’s been an absolute pleasure in raising more than £3,600 in total for both NSPCC and Variety combined in 2014. Overall employees within Odeon across the UK have raised to date more than £400,000 for Variety. I would also like to thank Brett McLean, Azur, Marina Pavilion, Harcourts Tea House, Sam from Paperlane in Eastbourne, Renegade Pyrotechnics, Beverley Thompson, Southern Water, Vantage Racing, Lester Magoogan, Chris Brown aka Mr Bumble and all the guests, without whom the night would not have been a success.”
