WHETHER it be musical, dramatic, exotic or just plain weird, Eight Foot Square, a project by multi-arts group Parrabbola, is a chance for the people of Hastings and St Leonards to take their chance to show what they can do.
Taking place tomorrow (Saturday) at The Stade Open Space from 2pm, as part of the free Stade Saturdays programme, performances will take place in a space measuring 8ft by 8ft – the same size as the nearby iconic fishermen’s net shops.
“Eight foot square is inspired by how the fishermen of Hastings responded to the challenge of fitting huts to dry their nets on an 8ft square area between the cliffs and the beach” said Councillor Peter Chowney, lead member for regeneration at Hastings Borough Council.
“This project will demonstrate what people in Hastings can creatively do in 8ft square.
“It offers free open mic for singers and musicians, absolute beginners to experienced performers who will all take to the special 8ft square stage on Saturday from 2pm into the evening.”
