A WELL-known office building sold for £185,000 as a host of 1066 Country properties went under the hammer at auction.
The five-floor Century House at 100 Menzies Road, St Leonards, was one of 33 lots sold by Clive Emson Auctioneers at the Hilton in Brighton this month.
The 12,614-square-foot block on the Ponswood Estate was snapped up by an undisclosed buyer, and it is not yet known what the building will be used for.
Up until last year the offices had been home to a small army of Hastings Borough Council workers – including the environmental health and planning teams – for more than a decade.
It was also the place where local residents would go to renew their parking permits.
Others properties sold the same day include land by 5 Market Passage, St Leonards, which has consent for three two-bedroom houses, sold for £35,000, and a two-bedroom flat on the seafront at 6 Eversfield Place, St Leonards, which fetched £61,500.
A six-storey property in Wellington Square, with a guide price of £250-300,000, was withdrawn before the bidding.
