A FINE art calendar capturing the spirit of Jack-in-the-Green is now on sale.
Award winning photographer and travel writer Chris Parker has produced the calendar, which celebrates those who participate in the annual Hastings Jack-in-The-Green Festival.
Chris, who has lived in Hastings for many years, said: “After photographing the Hastings Jack-in-the-Green since way back, I decided to adopt a different approach to capture this fantastic event.
“I set up a portable studio for the 2012-13 festivals to highlight the amazing costumed characters in a fun yet contemporary style against a white background.”
The project is collaboration between Lucy Bell Gallery, Hastings Borough Council and Judges Postcards.
The resulting calendar is now on sale for £8 with a percentage of the proceeds going to St Michael’s Hospice.
Councillor Peter Chowney, lead member for marketing, said: “Jack-in-the-Green is one of our most popular festivals, thanks to the efforts of the volunteer committee which run it. And this calendar really does capture its spirit, Chris has done a superb job.
“I think it will be popular with residents and visitors alike, and would urge people to go along to our new tourist information office on the seafront and buy one.”
Calendars can be bought from Lucy Bell Gallery, 46 Norman Road, St Leonards, and Hastings Tourist Information Centre, Breeds Place.
