A CASH-STRAPPED cattery is launching a New Year appeal to help find homes for its moggies.

The RSPCA Bluebell Ridge Cattery in Chown’s Hill almost shut last year amid mounting financial pressures but managed to stave of the threat of closure. Now the team there is asking people who are considering getting a pet to think about adopting a cat as they face up to 2011.

Myra Grove of Bluebell Ridge said: “We had such a lot of snow that Chown’s Hill was totally impassable and we didn’t have that many cats being brought in during December. But we still have lots of cats who need a new home and sometimes people start to bring them in after Christmas so things can get tough that way.”

She also thanked all those who had sent donations to the cattery over Christmas and the Acromax Gymnasts who raised more than £1,000 with a Christmas show.
