PETROL heads are being invited to a special reunion to celebrate nearly half a century of a motor enthusiasts’ club in 1066 Country.
The RAT/SWL Motor Club was formed in 1963 to offer local people the thrill of motor sport at affordable prices. Within a few years it boasted more than 250 members and organised big events like The Senlac Rally, The Marsh Mist Rally and the 1066 Country Scatter.
The club’s base has moved several times but most recently meetings have been held at the Robert de Mortain pub on The Ridge. And after the recent sad death of member Brian Morris, other members decided the time was ripe to get the group back together for a reunion.
It takes place at the pub next Saturday night, January 15, from 8pm - all former members and their partners are invited and there will be live music.
