A BUSINESSWOMAN spoke about running a business to a group of year 10 students at Robertsbridge Community College.

Marie Jones ran the talk as part of the Own Grown initiative, which aims to forge education and business links to improve young people’s job prospects and employability.

Her talk covered her own background and how she came to run her own business, The Office, Your Office, an outsourced administrative service to small businesses. She offered advice on how the students could thrive in a highly competitive job market. Marie also discussed how she built her own career and the trials and rewards of running her own business.

She said: “I think the Own Grown initiative is a timely intervention. Young people need to understand the world of work from a business owner’s and employer’s perspective.”
