Jobs threat at troubled DIY firm

SOME 28 jobs are under threat at Focus DIY in St Leonards after it was announced this week the retailer had filed for administration.

The future of the store in Sedlescombe Road North is uncertain although DIY rival B&Q has already expressed an interest in purchasing Focus stores on an individual basis.

Simon Allport, on behalf of administrators Ernst & Young, said; “Low consumer confidence has impacted on Focus and placed considerable pressure on sales and margins.

“Despite management’s actions to tightly control costs and restructure the operations it has not been possible for the business to continue to trade outside of insolvency. Focus will continue to trade as we look for a buyer for the group and its stores.”
