A HOTEL has been taken over by new management in a bid to boost its fortunes.

The High Beech Hotel in Eisenhower Drive, off Battle Road, St Leonards, is now being run by Clare Hassan and Ed Hasaj who aim to transform the building and its reputation.

On February 1, the hotel will change its name to the Sussex Edwardian as part of its re-branding.

Ed, formerly the head chef at the Mermaid in Rye, has designed a new menu which was unveiled recently at a special invitation evening.

The 18-bedroom hotel is aiming to work with the local community to provide a first-class service and facility.

Miss Hassan, 28, who is from Guestling, has 12 years of experience in the hotel industry from one to five stars.

She said: “I have passion and loyalty to this building and am determined to make it a success. This place used to have grandeur and boasts impressive architecture. I want to bring that pride back and show people what a wonderful place it is.

“The hotel was here long before the estate and we can make it a community focus.

“It will not happen overnight – it is going to take time.”
