EMPLOYERS across 1066 Country have proved their mettle by taking on 100 apprentices in just 31 days.
A campaign launched by the borough council on February 6 reached its target of 100 places for 100 apprentices this week.
The Own Grown initiative challenged local businesses and employers to achieve the magic ‘100’ by May 16.
Pledges have come from the Hastings and Rother areas including both the public and private sector.
The campaign will continue until its original target date.
Councillor Peter Chowney, the council’s lead member for regeneration, said: “When we started this project we thought it might be difficult to persuade employers of the benefits of taking on apprentices.
“I am pleased to say that thanks to the hard work of the council’s Own Grown team, this hasn’t been a problem and in fact we’ve exceeded our goal, which is great news.”
