BREAKING NEWS Staff in lucky escape after car crashes into pharmacy

STAFF and customers at a pharmacy store in St Leonards had a lucky escape when a car crashed into the front of the building.

The accident happened just before midday today (TUES) at Lloyds in Battle Road as rain fell steadily throughout the morning.

Firefighters and an ambulance were called to the scene but no one was seriously hurt.

Paramedics treated one person at the scene for minor injuries and dealt with 13 people potentially suffering from shock.

Richard Airey, spokesman for South East Coast Ambulance Service, said: “Fortunately there were no serious injuries but 13 people were badly shaken by the incident.”

Staff at the branch were still in the building answering the branch phone line at lunch time. It was not clear whether it would remain open for the rest of the day.
