A headteacher has issued a letter to parents warning about a ‘male stranger’ who approached a student on her way to school.

Lucy Monk, principal of Helenswood Academy, issued the letter yesterday (Monday, January 26).

The letter reads: “One of our Lower School students was approached by a male stranger in the Harrow Lane area of St Leonards on her way to school. The man was driving a silver car and attempted to get the student into it. She was able to run away and was unharmed but shaken by the experience.

“Sussex Police has been informed and is carrying out further investigations into the incident.”
