A major blaze has broken out at an independent school just outside of Hastings tonight (Wednesday, February 17).

Firefighters were called to Buckswood School in Guestling shortly after 6.30pm when smoke was spotted coming from the roof.

Ten fire engines are currently on the scene, along with the water carrier from Uckfield Fire Station, the Aerial Ladder Platform from Bohemia Road, the Control Unit from Lewes and three officers.

Police and paramedics are also on the scene.

Reports suggest that a science block and library have been destroyed in the inferno.

There are no reports of any injuries.

It is not yet known what caused the fire.
