Boomerang team’s ball nets £11,000

A GROUP of friends hosted a charity ball, raising more than £10,000 ahead of a charity bike ride they are embarking on next Friday (September 21).

The Barcelona Boomerang team organised the event in aid of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust at Bannatyne’s Spa Hotel in St Leonards. More than 270 people attended.There was live entertainment from Letters from New York and local band Dorey the Wise, as well as a performance by Jimmy Adams. A charity auction and raffle were held.

James Beeching, one of the event organisers, said: “The night went even better than any of us could ever had imagined. It was an absolute blast from start to finish and we were blown away with the generosity of all those who attended the evening. Everybody made such an effort and looked amazing. We have hosted numerous events over the past year and this was our grand finale. It was very emotional for the team when we found out that the ball had raised £11,000. It was seriously overwhelming.”
