Hastings Blue Reef Aquarium will be welcoming teachers from across the area on Thursday (March 19) as part of the launch of its new educational initiative.

The Rock-a-Nore Road wildlife attraction is running a free familiarisation evening featuring workshops, tours, talks and feeding demonstrations for local teachers.

Organisers are aiming to highlight the aquarium’s ability to cater for a wide range of educational topics, all linked to the National Curriculum.

Blue Reef Aquarium’s Leanna Lawson said: “The aquarium hosts thousands of educational visits each year and we’re constantly looking at new ways to further improve the experience and to make sure it remains relevant to schools and colleges.

“This event will provide us with a great opportunity to meet with teachers and other educationalists to showcase what we have to offer them. In addition to giving them a chance to see first-hand a selection of our workshops, tours, events and activities it will also let us find out from them what more we can do to ensure pupils get the very most from their visit. We see ourselves as a ‘living classroom’ where students find out more about a wide range of subjects in a fun, exciting and stimulating environment.”
