AN empty beer garden in Hollington is set to be transformed with three new homes built on the land.
Developers from Gemselect have been given the go-ahead to put the two-bedroom terraced houses next to the Tivoli Tavern in Hollington Old Lane, St Leonards.
Councillors voted unanimously for the scheme at their planning committee meeting last Tuesday (February 28).
The houses will be next to a row of existing homes to the north.
Several residents wrote to the council voicing their objections to the proposals, saying they were concerned about increased traffic congestion, loss of character of the area and the loss of privacy for existing residents.
Others feared there would be an increased chance of flooding.
But a report by the council’s planning department said the proposed homes have been designed to reflect the appearance of surrounding terraced properties and recommended that the development be given the green light.
Each new house will have one off-road parking space.
