THOUSANDS of revellers saw a host of local bands play set after set in a three-day music concert marking the start of carnival week.
Tony Streeter, organiser of the RNLI Hastings Beach Concert said he was ‘delighted’ with the gig, and that crowds of between 2,000 and 3,000 marked the largest ever audience for the event.
“It was absolutely brilliant,” he said. “The weather was wonderful, and every single one of the 16 bands produced an exhilarating performance.
“It provided a lot of fun for people who love live music in Hastings and gave the bands an opportunity to play to bigger audiences.”
Local rockers 90% Proof headlined on Saturday night, with folk-rock group The Fold taking the prime slot on Sunday.
Buckets collecting cash for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution have not yet been counted, but Tony said he expected a ‘sizeable donation’, and thanked all those who supported the RNLI on the day.
