A MEMORIAL to commemorate and remember Shirley Wild, long-time secretary and member of the choir, will take place at St Andrew’s Church, Fairlight, on Tuesday, February 19 at 2.30pm.
The service will honour Shirley’s wide interests and dedicated work both in her teaching career, and her work for the church, choir and her many friends. Ex-colleagues and others will pay tribute to the many qualities that Shirley brought to all the many spheres of her busy life.
The choir will also sing Mozart’s Ave Verum, which was one of Shirley’s favourite pieces of music, and the service will end on a joyful and happy note with Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus from the Messiah.
The Choir’s next concert will be on Saturday, May 18 at Christ Church, St Leonards at 7.30pm. The orchestra, soloists, and choir will perform JS Bach’s mighty B Minor Mass and would welcome others from local choirs, especially sopranos who would like to join us to sing this incredible music.
We are especially pleased to announce that one of the soloists will be our president Louise Winter, an internationally acclaimed mezzo soprano, who last sang with the choir for the Verdi Requiem.
The evening’s performance will be dedicated to the loving memory of Shirley Wild.
