A talented Hastings illustrator will be launching his new book next Friday (September 12) in the Old Town.
Ed Boxall is to present his new illustrated book
The illustrator’s new book is about three friendly dolphins which rescue a little girl from her nightmares and take her on an epic voyage across the sea.
The enchanting tale includes a cat, an island called Dinkerdire, and a goblin who collects socks in a forest of doors.
Ed said: “A lot of it is influenced by Celtic sea stories.
“There are old Irish fairy tales that are all about travelling across the sea and going to a mystery island.
“Also, I just love being by the sea and I love dolphins.”
Graduating from St Martin’s College of Art in 1999, Ed is an artist, writer and storyteller.
Ed self-publishes his beautifully crafted illustrated books as Pearbox Press.

Ed’s more recent publications have included children’s poems, ‘enchanting visual poetry for both adults and children’.
A man of many talents, Ed also does print making, using techniques such as woodblocks, lino and mono printing.
And both his books and prints are available from various galleries and shops across the UK including at the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill.
Ed, who says ‘he loves’ Hastings, moved to the town in 2000 because he wanted to live by the sea and thought the area had lot of character.
Ed will be telling his new story at his launch using lo tech projections and a specially recorded musical soundtrack.
The book launch will be from 4pm to 5pm at Made in Hastings, 82 High Street, on September 12.
