A man was arrested after two men attacked a car with blunt objects doing £600 worth of damage in Hastings on Friday (June 3)

A blue Ford was just leaving the Q8 garage, when it was blocked in by a white BMW on Old London Road at around 5.40pm.

Two men got out of the BMW and started to hit the Ford with blunt, heavy objects causing around £600 damage to the paintwork and windows, according to Sussex Police.

The driver, a 31-year-old Hastings man, was not injured and managed to drive away south down Old London Road.

The two suspects are both described as white, around 5’11” and wearing balaclavas and hooded tops. One was of skinny build, the other medium.

A 24-year-old man from Hastings was arrested the following day on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place and affray.

He has been released on bail until June 29.

PC Ian Riches said: “This was a violent incident which took place in a fairly busy road and we would like to hear from anyone who saw something suspicious in the area.
