Anti-war group’s talk with MEP on Israel-Palestine conflict

MEMBERS of Hastings Against War will be holding a public discussion with Keith Taylor, Green Party Member of the European Parliament (MEP) on Tuesday (April 2).

The event starts at 7.30pm at the Friends Meeting House in South Terrace.

The focus of this meeting will be the EU trading rules for Israel and the effect on Palestinians subjected to the blockade of Gaza, the issue of illegal settlements, detention without charge, separation wall, and property evictions and demolitions.

Keith is one of 10 MEPs representing South East England in the European Parliament.

As a member of the EU delegation to the Palestinian Legislative Council and the EU Committee on Development, he will also discuss related issues of development, peace and disarmament.

Ahead of Tuesday’s meeting, Mr Taylor said: “My recent visit to Palestine has left me utterly convinced that urgent change is needed in the region. I’m very much looking forward to joining Hastings residents to discuss what the EU can do to halt Israel’s continued oppression of Palestinians.”
