BRITISH saxophonist Trevor Watts has been associated with the British free jazz and improvised music scene since the mid-1960s.
He is perhaps best known for his involvement in the Spontaneous Music Ensemble and in other projects with drummer John Stevens.
Over the years, Trevor Watts has toured all over the world, from the Americas to New Zealand.
He has run workshops, received numerous grants and commissions for his music, and has collaborated with a number of other widely respected jazz musicians, including Archie Shepp, Steve Lacy, Don Cherry and Jayne Cortez.
Veryan Weston is best-known for his work with such British avant-garde musicians as vocalist Phil Minton and saxophonist Lol Coxhill.
He moved from Cornwall to London at the age of 22, where he began working as a freelance jazz pianist. He co-founded and composed for the group Stinky Winkles (which also included saxophonist Simon Picard), and collaborated with potter Liz Fritsch and visual artist Stephen Cochrane.
He has recorded for the Matchless, Acta, Ogun, and Leo labels, among others.
In addition to being a prominent free jazz-oriented musician, Weston is also an accomplished mainstream jazz pianist.
The line-up for the gig includes Trevor Watts on saxophone, Veryan Weston on piano, John Edwards on bass, and Mark Sanders drums.
