Students at The St Leonards Academy held a non-uniform day to support the fundraising efforts across town to help Hastings in Sierra Leone.

The Ebola crisis in the African country has affected the academy’s partner school, Huntington School, as all schools are currently closed indefinitely. This has meant that the teachers at Huntington School (including Peter Koroma who visited the academy earlier in 2014) are currently not receiving any wages.

The money raised from the mufti day and other fundraising efforts at the academy will go towards helping the teachers at Huntington School buy food for themselves and their families and providing the local healthcare centre with protective clothing to encourage doctors and nurses back to work.
