SEVEN babies born at the Conquest Hospital share their birthday with the future king.
As the news broke that the Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to an 8lb 6oz son on Monday (July 22) afternoon, four girls and three boys were welcomed to the world a little closer to home.
Cheryl Douglas, 24, and Danny Harmer, 28, of Mildenhall Drive, St Leonards, had a new addition to their family with the arrival of baby Megan Evelyn Harmer, at 3.35pm, less than an hour before the royal birth.
And there is a certain resemblance between Cheryl and the Duchess.
Megan is Cheryl and Danny’s first baby, and weighed in at 7lb 3oz.
Cheryl said: “All our friends were betting she was going to come on the same day, even though I went into labour on Saturday.”
Natalie (22) and Adam Bluff (23), of Swallow Drive, Battle, were celebrating the arrival of their first baby, Maddison, who was born at 8.38pm, weighing 7lb 8oz.
Natalie said that they were quite surprised that Maddison arrived on the same day as the royal baby: “It was touch and go - we were due on the same date, but we didn’t think it would happen.”
Julie Blackman, 32, and husband Glenn, 43, of Moat Lane, Sedlescombe, were delighted that daughter Madeleine Rose shares her birthday with the future king.
She arrived at 3.40am on Monday, weighing 7lb 5oz.
Julie said: “We were hoping that it would be on the same day.”
Babies born on the same day as the Prince of Cambridge are eligible for a free commemorative silver penny made by the Royal Mint.
