GHOULISH characters aplenty along with a carnival atmosphere were visible on the streets on Halloween night as Voodoo Fest 2013 got underway.

Organised by the team behind Hastings Fat Tuesday and billed as a musical event to close the festival season, a “funeral” procession through the town centre was brought to life by Dr Savage and the Second Line Band, before a line-up of bands and DJs at The Carlisle until the early hours, whipped festival-goers into a frenzy.

Those taking to the stage included The Vince Ray Rock and Roll Loser Machine, The Kid Kapichi, the controversial Fat White Family, and Junk Deluxe.

Organiser Adam Daly said: “Once again the people of Hastings braved the weather and put on a fantastic show!

“The effort that went into the fantastically creative costumes and make-up was impressive to say the least.

“The parade rocked the town and the atmosphere in the Carlisle was electric.

“A big thank you to all involved and especially the Hastings and St Leonards folk, as without this great support it would not be possible to produce these events.”
