WELL, me hearties! A day of pirate-themed fun for the whole family is set to hit the Old Town next weekend.
Hastings Old Town will play host to the town’s annual Pirates Day next Sunday, July 19,
This year, the programme is jam-packed with family fun, excitement, games, competitions, and art displays for pirates of all ages.
Harris Woodcock, one of this year’s Pirate Day organisers, said:I am really excited but also hope that it all goes well.
This year we really trying to make it a family fun day. There will lots things go on all over the old town and we have involved the whole of the Old Town. It will be a fantastic community event.”
The day’s events include Jack Sparrow lookalikes on The Stade, a pirate ship ride, pirate-themed crazy golf competition, walking the plank, and a huge pirate treasure trail.
A big Pirate Procession will gather at 2.30pm at East Street for a 3pm start, marching bands will parade up High Street, across The Bourne and then down All Saints Street to Rock-a-Nore.
In August 2010, 6,166 pirates smashed the then world record by gathering on Pelham Beach, but in 2011, pesky pirates from Penzance took Hastings’ crown.However Hastings took back the record in July 2012 when 14,231 pirates gathered on the beach.
