THE owner of the kebab shop outside which Mohammed al-Majed was attacked lost an appeal against the council’s decision to strip him of his licence. Remzi Tanriverdi was hoping his Kebab Hut on the corner of Claremont would be allowed to continue serving alcohol.

AN investigation into three suicides at the Woodlands mental health unit on The Ridge found no evidence of any crimes. Bosses at Sussex Partnership NHS Trust welcomed the news after always maintaining there had been no wrongdoing.

PEOPLE across town displayed the free Save Our Pier poster printed in the Observer. The eye-catching yellow design proved popular with people keen to lobby the council into helping the pier trust.

THE names of the two new academies planned to replace The Grove, Filsham Valley and Hillcrest were unveiled. After weeks of waiting the Observer revealed they would be called...The St Leonards Academy and The Hastings Academy. So much for our suggestion of Turing and Logie Baird.
