People's champion Paddy Henry has been rewarded with an MBE for his community work...after thinking he was being called to jury service.
Mr Henry's honour has been confirmed in the New Year's Honours list, but he first got notification he was in line for it two days after his 66th birthday on November 14.

Mr Henry, 66, from New England Road, Haywards Heath, has campaigned since 1991 in the Mid Sussex District Council and since 1995 on the Haywards Heath Town Council, and has also strongly backed calls to save services at the town's Princess Royal Hospital.

He is also a former director of community psychiatry and honorary president of the St Francis Social and Sports Club and has been involved in the Sussex County Hockey Association, having played hockey for St Francis for many years.
