Bexhill’s first charity German style Oktoberfest is set to offer a fun evening of beer, bratwurst and fun entertainment.

The event, to be held at St Peter’s Community Centre, Bexhill Old Town, on Friday, October 9. 7-10.30pm, is Bexhill Lions Club’s latest fundraising idea. Brian Comber, Bexhill Lions Head of Fundraising says the aim of this charity event is to really putting the FUN into FUNdraising. “ We wanted to do something different, have fun, and at the same time raise funds to support individuals and community groups in Bexhill,” he said.

“We hope our event will attract legions of supporters!”

Entry to Oktoberfest is by ticket only which must be purchased in advance. Tickets cost £15 and includes the first drink and sausages. There will also be a cash bar for drinks, sausages, apple strudel, teas and coffee.

Oktoberfest organiser Clare Kersley says, along with food and drink, guests will also enjoy music, entertainment and fun, inspired by events that took place over 200 years ago .

“With the Kings’ German Legion arriving in Bexhill in 1804, we decided to hold the event in the Old Town and hope it will become an annual Lions’ FUNdraising event,” she said.

“Making their first public appearance will be ‘Lions in Lederhosen’ - an experience not to be missed!

“So Join us for brats and beer. It’s time to get together with friends for a good old fashioned German-style Oktoberfest!”

All profits from the event will go to the Bexhill Lions charity account, supporting the local community.
