All aboard the Workshop on Wheels

It was standing room only for Hastings Mayor Judy Rogers when she boarded a local charity's innovative Workshop on Wheels which aims to help the community brush up on it's painting and DIY skills.

Hastings and Rother Furniture Service (HFS) welcomed Cllr Judy Rogers onboard its Workshop on Wheels (WoW) van at Four Courts Community Centre, Hastings last Friday (February 17).

The newly launched mobile DIY workshop, customised with workbenches and tool cupboards, offers Hastings and Rother residents the opportunity to try their hand at DIY and craft activities free of charge with the help of experienced, skilled tutors.

“This is a fantastic, practical project to help people find out how to make and mend things in their homes,” she said.

HFS CEO Naomi Ridley says the charity has offered workshops and courses at its Hastings and Bexhill stores for many years, but this is the first time the charity has taken its upcycling and crafting activities out into the community. “The WoW van offers fun, friendly and free of charge sessions which are open to everyone, no experience needed,” she said.

The WoW van is scheduled to stop at Four Courts Community Centre on February 24 and March 3, 10-12.30 and on the same dates at the Robsack Centre, Hastings 1.30-4pm. Future venues and dates will be added to the WoW calendar throughout the year.
