Totally unconditionally amazing steak. Best I have ever eaten. Staying in Hastings for weekend and going for second night on the trot. My boyfriend had the mussels to start which were very succulent. Recommend a visit. We will be back. Only one thing more mushrooms please.

My family and I love Whites and we go there frequently. The food is always delicious, hot & fresh. All the staff are fantastic and are always friendly. My children enjoy being there, equally love the food and the team includes them, chats to them and makes us all feel really welcome. It's our favourite place to go and we all look forward to going there! Highly recommend a visit.

This is the kind of place that would be just at home in Brighton. Gourmet fish and chips, steaks, seafood platters – stylish and a little bit pricey.

So, it’s slightly out of place in Hastings, but no the worse for it. Yes, you can get fish and chips cheaper elsewhere and it’ll probably be just as good, but if you want something that’s a little more stylish, or fancy something a little bit different, give it a shot.

UPDATED: We went back to White’s recently and while the starters were very good (loved the snails), the fish and chips weren’t as good this time around; my girlfriend’s fish was heavily battered in something quite soggy and, while very generous in portion size, the chips weren’t the gorgeous gastro chunky chips we had before. I did cast envious eyes on the fish platter, which I might have to try next time. No problem with the service: still good, and a nice atmosphere on a Saturday evening.

This is a relatively small restaurant in a prime location in George Street in the Old Town of Hastings.

Taking advantage of the fishing background the restaurant is a fish and steak restaurant (but has a number of other options Slow roast belly pork being a good example).

There are also a number of specials, to complement the relatively small menu, however the number of vegetarian options are very limited. In fact when we asked we were given vegetarian option that wasn’t even listed on the menu.

Overall the food was good and the portions are very decent (almost American is size).

The service does leave something to be desired, while it doesn’t advertise itself as silver service, you do expect a certain level of efficiency and manner, and while everyone was charming, it did leave a little to be desired and this is what lets the place down.

I would probably go there again on the strength of the food, but I would definitely check to see what else was available first.

First time to this little jem in the old town.
as we walked past we noticed the seafood counter in the front window
lots of local fish and shellfish.
I picked the seabass and my wife picked the plaice, as we sat there one of the chefs came out with tongs and a bowl and picked the fish from the counter.
A nice thing to see, and the meal was very good indeed.
Also the service was A1 very jolly staff.
A must.

Whites Bar, Seafood and Steak Restaurant, Old Town Hastings (Approx 4.9 miles from us.)
When researching establishments to recommend to our visitors this restaurant came out consistantly high in both food quality and value. It’s an ideal introduction to someone who wants to sample the very best seafood Hastings has to offer.
Do try it!
