Two weeks of roadworks will be taking place in Victoria Drive from April 21.
East Sussex County Council is carrying out a carriageway re-surfacing scheme.

This will involve removing the surface of the road and re-laying a new surface.

In this case the top 190mm is being replaced. These works are part of a programme of re-surfacing works and are subject to delay in periods of wet weather.

The work will be conducted in two phases: phase one from the junction with Green Street to the junction with Broomfield Street; phase two, from the junction with Broomfield Street to the junction with East Dean Road.

Whilst the work should take two weeks to complete, a window of three weeks has been allowed in case of poor weather.

The relevant section of road will be closed for the duration of each phase. Through traffic will be diverted both ways via Green Street.

Access for residents and businesses in Victoria Drive may be limited during working hours, 7.30am-5pm.

During this time, residents and businesses with specific access issues should speak to the site manager or supervisor.

Residents who live in Victoria Gardens, Northiam Road, Birling Street, Monceux Road, Dacre Road, Salehurst Road, Okehurst Road, Upwick Road, St Leonards Place and Bradford Street should be aware that the junctions with Victoria Drive will be closed.

Residents should make themselves aware of the location of the works and access their properties from the appropriate direction, said a spokesperson.

Parking will be temporarily restricted on the southern side of Green Street to enable the diverted traffic to flow more smoothly.

Access for pedestrians will be mainly unaffected however may be restricted from time to time due to movement of plant and equipment.
