Bowls open day
THE ROYAL Sovereign Bowls Club at Princes Park will be opening its greens to members of the public at a special open day on Saturday April 26.
The club will hold a coffee morning when there will be a chance to buy bowling equipment, and pay season tickets and green fees. Organisers say it will also be a chance for anyone interested in bowls to go along and find out about the club — new members are always welcome.
John Kinnard, the club's president, said over the closed season thousands of pounds have been spent on improving the greens and surrounding ditches at Princes Park.
Mr Kinnard added, "I am confident the greens will be playing well and everyone is looking forward to a successful season."
The playing number at the club is 120 mixed members who will be playing 90 friendly games with two men's league teams and a ladies league team. Plans are also underway to build up a youth section.
The open day is from 10am to 3pm.
