Ore in Bloom
Sunday 9th December saw the ‘Switching on of the Lights’ on the Ore Christmas Tree on the roof of the newly refurbished Ore public conveniences. Following a technical hitch, lights were illuminated on the Christmas tree. Our own Erica Barrett introduced Head Boy Jake Brett and Head Girl Emmylou Ferguson from Hastings Academy who operated the plunger. The Salvation Army Band played and then everyone moved on to the Ore Centre with them for more Candlelit Carols. Major Angie Bailey led the band as the community of around 100 residents and non-residents of Ore, joined in the carols, and Downs Farm Community Choir, and the Salvation Army songsters sang the finale ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas’, followed by hot chocolate and mince pies. We would like to extend grateful thanks to Majors Graham and Angie Bailey and the Salvation Army Band, the Chair, Mags Pawson at Ore Community Centre and Jon Baker of Little Down Farm, Westfield who has all but sponsored the Christmas Tree http://www.littledownfarmchristmastrees.co.uk/ Member of The British Christmas Tree Growers Association and National Christmas Tree Grower of the Year 2009.
Jon says ‘ Don’t compromise, go straight to the grower!’
Huge thanks also to everyone involved in helping to make this event possible.
Thank you for helping us sing in the season!
