Shed and garage raids prompt ‘marking’ plea

HOMEOWNERS are being encouraged to have their property specially marked by the police following a series of break-ins to garden sheds and garages.

Thieves have targeted a number of properties in the Silverhill and St Helens areas in recent weeks. Residents can mark their property with ultra violet pens or register it free of charge at the ‘Immobilise’ website, www.immobilise.com.

Property marking is essential as property that is recovered by police can be traced back to its owner. Hastings Police have a number of items including a spirit level and gift cards which have been recovered and are unable to be returned to the owner.

If you believe any of these are yours contact Hastings Police Station on the non-emergency number 101.
