Help for vulnerable households during cold snap
HOUSEHOLDERS facing difficulties heating their homes during the cold snap can get emergency help this winter.
Hastings Borough Council is part of the Winter Home Check Service, a partnership of different councils, voluntary sector organisations and community groups offering a helping hand to households in need.
The service provides a full assessment of homes and can carry out minor repairs and works including chimney clearing, boiler repair and pipe lagging.
Councillor Trevor Webb, lead member for Housing at Hastings Borough Council, said: “The Winter Home Check Service is a fantastic, practical response to help people fight the problems that the cold weather can bring with it. Not only is there the offer of small works, but the service can also provide temporary heating and even meals.
“Keeping warm in winter and remaining healthy go hand-in-hand and it is often the most vulnerable in our community that suffer the most.
“This is an example of different groups and organisations working together to provide an absolutely valuable service. If you think you might benefit then don’t hesitate to get in touch. “
