Hastings and District Services Rendered Association

ON Saturday, September 8, the Hastings and District Services Rendered Association held its regular monthly meeting at the Hastings and St Leonards Angling Club.

The meeting was opened at 10.30am by Peter White and a moment’s silence was observed for the Grenadier Guardsman who died of his wounds on active service. Apologies were accepted for G Finelly, M Potter, and P Willard.

It was decided by the members that we would reinstate the Remembrance Service this year at the memorial in Ore village where some of our members’ relations are on the memorial.

We will muster at the Millers Arms in Winchelsea Road at 10am. After the service members on parade will be given drinks vouchers for the Millers Arms where there will be a buffet laid on.

We are also organising a trip to the Christmas market in Bruges, Belgium for the second Saturday in December. The cost will be £25 per person.

It was also decided that we would enter a float in next year’s carnival. We are also looking to hold an Armed Forces Day on Saturday, June 29, 2013. Venue to be arranged.

The Christmas raffle is now all in place with the first prize a one-and-half litre of whisky plus many other prizes. Also members’ children and grandchildren will be welcomed at the Christmas dinner.

After no other business the meeting was closed at 11.30am. Next meeting will be on Saturday, October 13.
