A GRATEFUL artist broke out her brush to capture the organiser of Old Town Carnival Week as he steps down.

Juliette Dodd, who lives on the East Hill, painted carnival co-ordinator Ian Porter, of Martineau Lane, to thank him for arranging her carnival week public portrait painting events over the last four years.

She presented the painting at the end of Mr Porter’s final carnival week as co-ordinator. Mr Porter, 77, has now stepped down, to be replaced by a team of logistical wizards.

Juliette said: “Ian went to so much trouble for me. This is a small way to say ‘thank you’.”
