MEMBERS were welcomed to the meeting on Thursday, February 21 by Mrs. Kathie Goddard, Vice President, and it was with sadness that she told members of the death of Miss Lorna Levett - a staunch and enthusiastic W.I. lady who, in her unassuming way, made her presence felt at meetings.
Her love of children, her fellow man and plants were paramount. She will be missed. Jean Cload, June Cox and Beatie Piper attended the funeral service.

It was pleasant to welcome two new members to the meeting - Mrs. Jacqueline McCready and Mrs. Jean Nash, and a visitor, Ms. Brenda Eaton.
The speaker, Mr. Michael Betts with his talk on '1066 Country' caught the interest of everyone and, with the aid of slides, showed a vivid re-enactment of the Battle of Hastings. It was surprising to note how many castles had been built by order of William the Conqueror.

Mrs. Joy Hendricks, on behalf of the members, thanked Mr. Betts for an enjoyable talk. The competition was won by Mrs. Pat Calton.

A Coffee morning is planned for Saturday, March 15 at 10.30 to 12.

There will be the usual stalls. Entrance is £1.50 to include a Hot Cross Bun and coffee. The Venue is St. Johns Church Hall, Brittany Road, St. Leonards. Everyone is welcome. The next meeting will be on Thursday, March 20 at 2.30pm at the above hall. The Speaker will be Mr. Harold Cox with 'Wild Life through the Seasons' - not Miss June Cox. The competition remains as in the programme. New members and visitors are always welcome.
