MEMBERS and guests were welcomed to the 24th Birthday Meeting on Thursday April 17. Business was kept to a minimum and everyone partook of a most enjoyable luncheon prepared and served by Daphne Upton, ably assisted by her daughter.
Entertainment for the afternoon was provided by Rita Alcorn and Teresa Hayward 'Talk and Accordion Duet'. Rita and Teresa played many popular songs, together with classical and choral pieces, to demonstrate the versatility of the instrument. Members enjoyed learning the history of the accordion and seeing how the different parts produced the sounds - a thoroughly interesting and well received topic.

Mrs. Jean Anson, delegate at the Annual Council Meeting in March, told members that fellow member, Miss June Cox, had donated her extensive collection of craft work to ESFWI HQ Hailsham. June's work had pride of place at the ACM in the Congress Theatre and will be available for demonstration to other W.I.s in the area, if requested. It will be called 'The June Cox Collection'.

The next meeting will be the Resolution Meeting on Thursday, May 15 and the competition will be 'A Flower Arrangement in a Wine Glass'.
